Ekaterina Rubleva & Ivan Shefer retired from skating

Ekaterina Rubleva and Ivan Shefer
Multiple medalists of the Russian figure skating championships Ekaterina Rubleva and Ivan Shefer retired from competitive skating. Despite the fact that they are in the Grand Prix list, athletes have decided not to skate more at competitions.

Skaters were waiting for the outcome of the election of the new President of Figure Skating Federation of Russia, which took place in June. But as it turned out, a power in the Russian figure skating is not changed, and the guys decided to stop years of attempts to gain a foothold in the main National team.

Recall that at the last Russian Championships Rubleva /Shefer became only the third (in the absence of Khokhlova – Novitski), behind less than a point from a younger Bobrova/ Soloviev. Many experts estimated the final distribution of places as unprecedented.

Nevertheless, after a retirement of Domnina /Shabalin, Ekaterina and Ivan competed at the World Championships in Torino. The Russians performed very well, practically without errors and at a high level. Despite this, their final location, not at the first time, clearly unrelated to what they can expect.
