World champions sometimes need a pause

Grand Prix series this season showed how tense was the previous Olympic season. The skaters, who took top places in Vancouver have experienced a really strong physical and emotional burden.

Many of them paused in their performances at the events. And I think it is correct.

Chafik Besseghier – New French Wind

At the Trophée Eric Bombard passing in France by the big surprise there was a performance of Chafik Besseghier.

This figure skater participates for the first time in such serious tournament. I think that despite the debut, his short program has pleasantly surprised many. During the all time of performance of this skater it was felt that he goes for a skate relaxed, executes his elements with pleasure and does all of this in a high level.

Sofia Biryukova: “I skate with my soul”

Interview by Vladislav Luchianov
Assistance: Anastasiya Myasoedova

Russia’s Sofia Biryukova, for which the Cup of Russia was the first serious test in the senior skating, looked very confident in this competition.

She opened the competitions among the ladies and coped very well not only with the technical part of her program where she executed all scheduled at a fairly high level, but also her high level of artistry was a pleasant surprise to many experts. Following a short program she took fourth place. She is as confident and dignified performed her free program.

Despite the fact that in the final standings she took sixth place, one can say with certainty that this young skater has a great potential. Sofia has graciously agreed to answer a few questions.
