Alissa Czisny wins Skate America

Alissa Czisny

Alissa Czisny, the current U.S. national champion, last night became the first U.S. lady which won Skate America title since the year of 2007. Alissa hold off Carolina Kostner, the three-time European champion from Italy by the narrow of margins at the ice arena in Ontario, California.

Alissa Czisny, 24-years-old from Bloomfield Hills, MI, fell twice in her free skate program and missed another jumping element because of a botched landing in the middle of three-jump series. But her gorgeous, ambitious and very artistic free skating still was enough to win her third Grand Prix title in less than one year. Also, let’s not forget that this is only the beginning of the season.

“It was a bit of a relief to see it was just barely enough,” said Alissa, who scored 177.48 points in her first appearance at the Skate America since 2005, when she finished second.

“It was special for me. Guess it was nice to win something other than Skate Canada. That was a bit uncharacteristic of me to miss a jump early, but I had heard Carolina’s score before I went out there and knew I had to fight for everything.” she added.
