Brian Joubert is ready to take the European title
French skater Brian Joubert, who won on Saturday the French national championships, said to the edition Le Parisien that he hopes to win the European championships, which will be held in January next year.
Joubert missed the Grand Prix series this year because of back injury. However, at the French nationals the 27-year-old figure skater performed very strong programs with confident quads in both of them and earned his eighth national title.
“I’m very proud of this victory. I didn’t feel such positive emotions for a long time. I think that with this level of skating I can win the European Championships.” 2007 World champion said.
The last major victory of Brian Joubert in the international arena was in January 2009 when he won the European Championships in Helsinki.
Reigning European champion Florent Amodio took the second place.
“I’m very upset. Due to severe back pain I could not skate as I can” said the student of Nikolai Morozov.
