Ekaterina Bobrova: “We are going to Quebec with confidence”
December 8-11 in Quebec (Canada) will host the Grand Prix Final. In ice dancing Russia will be represented by the 2011 European silver medalists Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev.
In the 2011 / 2012 season, Bobrova and Soloviev won the gold medal at the 2011 Cup of China with a score of 163.52, after placing first in both the Short Dance and in the Free Dance. At the 2011 Rostelecom Cup they placed third, behind the World champions Meryl Davis / Charlie White of USA and Kaitlyn Weaver / Andrew Poje of Canada.
Before the departure to Quebec City, Ekaterina Bobrova shared with the press her thoughts and goals about this event.
This Grand Prix Final will be second in your career. Do you feel yourself more confident in comparing with the last year?
E.Bobrova: Yes, we feel much more confident going to this Grand Prix Final with a different rank. Now we have more experience and this Final will be absolutely another for our team. Also, our three junior ice dance teams will join us in this travel, so we feel ourselves like in home.
Your competitors are very strong – two American teams and two Canadian. What can you tell about this?
E.Bobrova: We are not going to Quebec like for some “battle”. Our main goal is to show our best and to have a joy from our performances. We are not afraid of our strong competitors. Our team has very good relations with all these guys and we’re happy to see them again.
Do you want to improve something in your performances in comparing with previous Grand Prix events?
E.Bobrova: We just want that judges evaluated our levels deservedly. We think that at the Moscow Grand Prix stage we received too low marks for them. Last days we worked very hard on our technique and components. But the main goal is to skate clean both of our programs.
