Pechalat, Bourzat won European ice dance title

French couple Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat confirmed their European ice dance title earning 164.18 points overall this evening in Sheffield. Russia’s Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev finished second with 160.23 points. Another Russian team Elena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalapov took the bronze medal with 153.12 points.

Zawadzki surprises many at the U.S. Nationals

The 17-year-old Agnes Zawadzki is the leader after the short program and is trailed by Alissa Czisny, Ashley Wagner, Caroline Zhang and others. The free skate final is Saturday night.

Kostner leads, Korpi shines at the European Championships

Italian Carolina Kostner leads after the short program at the European figure skating championships. Kostner, the European champion in 2007, 2008 and 2010, achieved 63.22 points to lead Finland’s Kiira Korpi (61.80) and Russian Ksenia Makarova (57.55).

Russia takes podium in pairs

Russia took all medals in pair skating last night in Sheffield at the European figure skating championships. Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov led a podium sweep and won their first European champions’ title in a convincing fashion.
