Stephane Lambiel: “Tuktamisheva is a very special skater”
Olympic medalist Stephane Lambiel said that the Russian young talent Elizaveta Tuktamisheva is a very special skater and that she is able to achieve much in the near future.
Tuktamisheva leads after the short program at the first Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria with 61.83 points. Her main rival, Adelina Sotnikova, finished second with 59.44 points. Lambiel worked with Elizaveta last summer, especially on her short program. After her perfect executed performance yesterday he shouted “Bravo, Liza!” to her from the stands.
“Liza was wonderful today. I think she could win the European Championships in Sheffield, if she took part there. She performed the short program perfectly today and I liked it very much.” said Stephane Lambiel in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Elizaveta said that she was nervous before her debut performance at the Youth Olympics.
“Not everything went well during my warm-up, so I was very nervous before my short program. I was very happy when I finished it” said Elizaveta. “I didn’t knew the results of other skaters but I understood that Adelina Sotnikova is somewhere in the top of standings. I tried not thinking about the results. Anyway, now I know that I can successfully compete being in such psychological conditions.” she added.
Elizaveta also told about her work with Stephane Lambiel.
“He made a lot for my short program and I would be happy to work with him again. He has taught me to feel the music.” said Elizaveta Tuktamisheva.
