Patrick Chan claimed his second consecutive world title today at the World Figure Skating Championships in Nice, France.

Savchenko, Szolkowy win pairs gold

Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy of Germany struck gold in the pairs event, taking their fourth World Champions title. Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov of Russia surged from eighth to repeat as World silver medalists, and Narumi Takahashi and Mervin Tran made history when they claimed Japan’s first pair skating medal at the World Figure Skating Championships.

Vancouver Olympic Champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir skated a strong free dance in Nice at the 2012 World Figure Skating Championships to capture their second world title while their team-mates Kaitlyn Wever and Andrew Poje captivated the audience.

Today at World Figure Skating Championships in Nice ladies performed their short programs. Russia’s Alena Leonova is captured the leadership. She is nearly two points ahead of the Japanese skater Kanako Murakami and more than three and a half ahead of reigning European Champion Carolina Kostner of Italy.
