Alena Leonova: “I enjoyed my today’s skating”

Today at World Figure Skating Championships in Nice ladies performed their short programs. Russia’s Alena Leonova is captured the leadership. She is nearly two points ahead of the Japanese skater Kanako Murakami and more than three and a half ahead of reigning European Champion Carolina Kostner of Italy.

Alena Leonova of Russia has set the pace in ladies singles at the World Figure Skating Championships.

Alexei Mishin: “The ice is normal in Nice”

The Russian pair skaters could not make such absurd mistakes in the short program at the World Figure Skating Championships in Nice due to bad ice, thinks Alexei Mishin, the coach of Torino Olympic Champion and reigning European Champion Evgeni Plushenko, and last year’s world bronze medalist Artur Gachinski.

Virtue, Moir dance to lead in Nice

Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir showed at yesterday’s short dance at the 2012 World Figure Skating Championships a strong performance to samba & rhumba which was highlighted by fast twizzles, a round step sequence and perfectly done rotational lift. Vancouver Olympic champions earned a level four for their twizzles and the lift while the two rhumba parts and the round steps received a level three. Virtue/Moir finished first with 72.31 points.
