Alena Leonova: “I enjoyed my today’s skating”
Today at World Figure Skating Championships in Nice ladies performed their short programs. Russia’s Alena Leonova is captured the leadership. She is nearly two points ahead of the Japanese skater Kanako Murakami and more than three and a half ahead of reigning European Champion Carolina Kostner of Italy.
“I was sure that I will perform clean all my jumps but I didn’t expected that I will receive level four for all my elements,” said Leonova. “At present it was my best performance of the short program. From the first note of music I enjoyed the skating. That’s why everything turned out so well.” she continued.
- It seems you have arrived in Nice rested and ready to fight?
– We were preparing very calmly for the Worlds. We worked very attentive on details of my programs. There was no such turmoil as it was before the European Championships in Sheffield. A lot of work was done for my jumps. Also, we changed a step sequence in my short program. In general, we did a great job, which is now yielding results.
