Canada earns second gold in Nice

Patrick Chan claimed his second consecutive world title today at the World Figure Skating Championships in Nice, France.

He earned 176.70 points for his free skate program to “Concierto de Aranjuez” and totaled 266.11 points. Vancouver Olympic bronze medalist Daisuke Takahashi of Japan finished second with a total score of 259.66, while his team-mate Yuzuru Hanyu was third with 251.06.

Yuzuru Hanyu was joyous on his way to the podium for the medal ceremony after going from seventh to third with an overall total of 251.06 points. The young Japanese skater performed one of the best skating programs at this championships and received deserved standing ovation.
