Chan leads men in Nice
Patrick Chan of Canada is on course to defend his World title at the World Figure Skating Championships after taking the lead in the short program, despite mistake on his quad jump and some others.
Chan successfully completed his other jumps when he was suddenly let down by his usually strong footwork coming out of a camel spin, twice swaying back before regaining his balance just in time.
But he had done enough to secure a season’s best score of 89.41 points. Czech skater Michal Brezina, who performed clean and very strong program, finished second with 87.67 points, followed by Daisuke Takahashi of Japan, who received 85.72 points.
