Julia Lipnitskaia: “I never think about the result”
By Vladislav Luchianov
In recent years in Russia appeared a new galaxy of talents in the ladies single skating. The 2012 World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Minsk once again confirmed this fact.
One of the main hopes of Russia’s team in Minsk was associated with the debutant Julia Lipnitskaia, who already won in this season two Junior Grand Prix stages, JGP Final and the Russian Junior Championships. She also became the silver medalist of the 2012 Russian seniors’ Nationals.
A young figure skater from Ekaterinburg, who now trains in Moscow in the team of Eteri Tutberidze, was a cut above the rest in Minsk. Having taken the lead after the short program, in a free skating Julia performed seven triple jumps, two double axels, and convincingly earned the title of the world champion.
She also impressed the audience in Minsk with her confidence, wonderful flexibility, highest-level spins and an amazing musicality. In addition, with her fantastic programs Julia set a new world junior record – 187.05 points. Such performances and results are comparable to the best performances of the world Senior champions.
