Cynthia Phaneuf probably retires
Canadian figure skater Cynthia Phaneuf is most likely to announce her retirement from competitive figure skating at a specially convened press conference, which will be held on Wednesday, says Canadian edition La Presse.
Last season, for the first time in four years, Phaneuf failed to be selected for participation at the World championships. In addition, in July skater announced that she will not participate in the upcoming season at the Grand Prix of figure skating because she wants to focus on the treatment of her back injury.
Cynthia Phaneuf is a two-time Canadian champion. She participated at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, where finished 12th. She is also a winner of 2004 Skate Canada.
Wednesday’s press conference will be attended by the President of Skate Canada Benoit Lavoie.
