Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy

According to the German news agency Abendblatt, the 2013 German National Figure Skating Championships will be held in Hamburg, for the first time in 60 years.

The championships will be held in December 21 – 22 at Volksbank-Arena. In the distant past this city hosted the national championships in 1937, 1943 and 1951.

Also, the first European Figure Skating Championships was held in Hamburg, in 1891. Since 1995 almost all German championships were held only in Oberstdorf or Berlin. Now figure skating comes back to this historical city.

Thanks to the support of local sponsors, inhabitants of Hamburg will have an opportunity to enjoy performances of Germany’s best skaters, including a four-time World and European Champions Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy.
