Russian ice dancers Ekaterina Bobrova / Dmitri Soloviev achieved a victory at the 2012 Finlandia Trophy by demonstrating the highest quality of skating, said their coach Alexander Zhulin.

Two-time national champions showed a second result in free dance competitions but won the first place overall with 159.71 points. Their main contenders there, Italian duo of Anna Cappellini / Luca Lanotte, finished second overall with 158.74 points. Americans Madison Hubbell / Zachary Donohue were third with 150.30 points.

“At the moment I’m satisfied with everything. My guys skated very nice and clean,” said Zhulin R-Sport. “There are many elements to work on but their level is really very good for the beginning of October. I’m also very pleased that we managed to beat Cappellini / Lanotte, what we had not been able to do ever before.” he continued.

The coach told he’s “very pleased with appreciation for the artistry and that judges noted the completely different style and look of his students”. Zhulin also noted that “the audience accepted programs very warmly.”

“The potential of the couple is very high and it is necessary to develop it, working completely on all the elements. Guys are well aware of this and are eager to change.” summed Zhulin.
