Mao Asada won NHK Trophy but not satisfied with performance
Mao Asada won competitions among ladies at NHK Trophy. Today, skating to “Swan Lake” in her free skate program, Asada doubled her opening triple loop, then later doubled a triple Lutz and compounded her problems by singling a triple Salchow.
However, her big lead over teammate Akiko Suzuki from the short program was enough to put her a top the podium with 185.27 points overall.
“I feel a lot of disappointment,” Asada said. “I couldn’t execute any of my jumps. I can’t be satisfied with the way I performed.” Mao Asada told the media.
Akiko Suzuki assured herself a spot in the GP Final with a tremendous performance to “O” from Cirque du Soleil. The 2012 World bronze medalist landed six triple jumps and moved the audience with her program. Suzuki earned 185.22 points in total.
American Mirai Nagasu, skating to Camille Saint-Saens’ composition, performed very solid and clean all her elements and took the bronze medal with 176.68 points.
