Gracie Gold takes lead at Rostelecom Cup

Gracie Gold at Rostelecom Cup 2012

Gracie Gold of the United States took the lead at the Grand Prix Rostelecom Cup, performing very well and strong her short program.

Gracie Gold looked much more relaxed on Moscow ice than at her previous Grand Prix event in Canada. She executed all of her elements, including a complex cascade of triple flip – triple toe, with a confidence and beauty. She got 62.16 points.

Unfortunately, judges have underestimated her components, which is not surprising in the modern figure skating. The current second place of Kiira Korpi (61.55) of Finland wasn’t a surprise too. Her short program was much weaker than the performance of American skater but ISU judges decided to award her with high points for PCS.

Another American skater Agnes Zawadski produced a strong, complex and very nice clean performance, earning 60.18 points and the current third place.
