The German city of Dortmund is waiting for the 2012 NRW Trophy, which will be held from 5 – 9 December 2012.
The city of Dortmund hosted three World championships and it’s a well-known center of figure skating in Germany.
The skating event in Dortmund is also known as a points-earning competition and this year it will be attended by more than 200 skaters, who will compete in novice, juniors and seniors levels.
The NRW Trophy is an annual international competition organized by the Skating Union of North Rhine-Westphalia (since 2007 it has been also sanctioned by the German Skating Union) and the International Skating Union. It is held every autumn at Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany.
Skaters compete in the disciplines of men’s singles, ladies singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The competition is held in two parts. The Ice Dance Trophy is held for ice dancing levels pre-novice to senior in early November. The Figure Skating Trophy is held for singles and pairs skating levels novice to senior in late November or early December.
Due to a presence among participants of the 2010 Olympic Champion Yu-Na Kim of Korea, organizers have experienced unprecedented demand for the tickets. All of them were snapped up in just 6 1/2 hours.
The event will be also highlighted by performances of Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy (Germany), Stefania Berton/Ondrej Hotarek (Italy), Michal Brezina (Czech Rep.), Konstantin Menshov (Russia), Artur Gachinski (Russia) and Mae-Berenice Meite (France).
