Reigning World junior champion Julia Lipnitskaia of Russia will miss coming Russian figure skating championships due to injury.

This statement was made by the general director of Russian skating federation Valentin Piseev to R-Sport agency.

This season started not easy for the 2012 Russian national silver medalist and 2012 Russian junior champion. Julia was assigned to two Grand Prix events: 2012 Cup of China and 2012 Trophee Eric Bompard. She took the silver medal in China behind gold medalist Mao Asada.

The day before she left for French event, Lipnitskaia twisted her right ankle during off-ice training and practically can’t do any jumps a day before the start of the event. Julia still decided to compete as she felt better and won the bronze medal behind teammate Elizaveta Tuktamysheva.

Lipnitskaia qualified for the Grand Prix Final in Sochi but withdrew due to injury: during training, she lost balance on the entry to a spin, split her chin and sustained a slight concussion. Doctors advised that she not compete and to stay off the ice for at least two weeks. However, according to the latest news, she needs more time for the complete recovery.
