Liza Tuktamysheva leads ladies at Russian championships
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva takes lead after the short program at the Russian figure skating championships, ahead of three-time national champion Adelina Sotnikova and 2012 Junior Grand Prix Final champion Elena Radionova.
Elizaveta performed her short program very emotionally and executed perfectly high level technical elements: a cascade of triple Lutz – triple toe, triple loop and double Axel. She got 69.50 points.
“I am very happy with my today’s performance and I’m very happy that I was able to skate it well.” Tuktamysheva said after the event. “I had a time to rest after the Grand Prix Final. Before the Russian championships I had a different mindset, and trainings were much more productive and successful than before the Grand Prix Final. I’m much more confident now.” she continued.
“My goal is to fight for a victory!” Liza added.
The second place holds a three-time Russian champion Adelina Sotnikova (66.99). She also performed clean all jumping elements, which included a cascade of triple toe – triple toe, a triple flip and a double Axel, but she made a mistake on her spin.
“This was probably my most clean performance in this season.” Sotnikova commented.
Reigning Junior Grand Prix Final champion Elena Radionova is currently third with a result of 64.58 points.
“Of course, I would like to be among top three skaters. Last year, I was fifth at the national championships. But the competition is very high!” she said.
