Plushenko wins tenth national title

2006 Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko won the tenth national title today in Sochi.

Plushenko performed almost at the maximum his free skating program that included a quadruple toe loop, two triple Axels and four more triples.

“I’m very pleased with my performance but it was very hard to me,” Plushenko told reporters. “My back ached and I had to skate through the pain. Here, in Sochi, I did everything I could. Now I will have some rest and then I will begin preparation for the European Championships.” he said.

Following the results of the two programs Plushenko received 265.94 points. The second result showed Sergei Voronov (254.06). Third place went to Konstantin Menshov (228.88).
