Russia’s Maxim Kovtun takes gold in junior Grand Prix Final
Maxim Kovtun of Russia gave a real surprise to the fans winning the junior Grand Prix Final.
He confidently performed his free skating program, which was highlighted by complex technical elements including clean cascades of quad toe – triple toe and a triple Axel – triple toe. In total he received 222.31 points.
“Junior starts it’s a preparation for senior competitions,” Maxim Kovtun told journalists. “In this season I have only one (another)serious junior start – the World junior championships. But I will also compete at the senior Russian championships and will try my best to become a member of national team. I think I’m ready for this.” he added.
American Joshua Farris took the silver with 211.37 points and Ryuju Hino of Japan earned bronze with 198.92 points.
