The queen of spins withdraws
Just a few days ago Alissa Czisny had been waiting eagerly for the beginning of the U.S. national championships. She had to miss the first half of this season because of the post-surgical recovery period. Unfortunately, injuries are still pursuing this skater.
Last Saturday, while competing at the competition in Appleton, Wis., Alissa dislocated her left hip while performing her free skate program. The competition was her first since the 2012 World figure skating championships in Nice, France.
Alissa was treated at a local hospital and is now resting. She will undergo further evaluation.
Due to a new injury she had to withdraw from the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which will be held from January 20-27, in Omaha, Neb.
Alissa Czisny is a two-time U.S. national champion (2009, 2011), the 2010 Grand Prix Final champion and an eight-time Grand Prix Series medalist. In June, she underwent successful surgery to repair a labral tear in her left hip. She did not participate at the 2012 Grand Prix serie as she recovered.
