Universal Sports announces schedule for Worlds

Universal Sports Network announced yesterday its on-air schedule for the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in London, Ontario, Canada.
From March 13 to 16, Universal Sports will air more than 18 hours of LIVE on-air coverage of the world’s best skaters competing for titles in the Men’s, Ladies, Pairs and Ice Dance disciplines. This year’s championship also identifies the number of entries qualifying countries may send the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
In addition to on-air coverage, UniversalSports.com will LIVE stream all short programs and free skates beginning Wednesday, March 13 at 11:00 AM ET, and post daily video highlights, photos and news coverage.
The network’s broadcast team features analysts and Olympic medalists Peter Carruthers and Tanith Belbin alongside play-by-play announcers Craig Hummer and Steve Schlanger. Team USA will be highlighted by U.S. ladies champion Ashley Wagner, who became the first American to win back-to-back ladies titles since Michelle Kwan in 2005, and ice dance champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White. The popular ice dance team is undefeated this season and will compete for their second World title and fourth consecutive World medal.
Also competing for the U.S. and making their World Championships debuts are national men’s champion Max Aaron, pairs champions Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir and ladies silver medalist Gracie Gold. The home crowd is sure to root for fellow Canadians including defending men’s champion Patrick Chan and defending ice dance champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.
