Reigning World pair skating champions Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov of Russia took the lead at the 2013 Nebelhorn Trophy in German Oberstdorf, setting a new world record for the short program – 81.65 points.

Russians perfectly performed the program and got deserved standing ovation from the crowd.

“The points are very good for the beginning of the season. We need to work more on this program’s presentation. This is a nice tradition for us to skate at Nebelhorn Trophy. We love Oberstdorf.” commented Trankov.

Full stands enjoyed strong performances of German skaters. For Maylin and Daniel Wende, who finished second after the short program with 61.00 points, it was a nice comeback after the missed last season.

First senior debut with new partners has become successful for Natasha Purich and Mervin Tran of Canada. They showed a solid clean short program and took the third position with 56.71 points.

“It is amazing to skate together. Nothing could be better. We are just happy” said Purich.
