RT launches Sochi Today radio
Russia Today TV channel has launched an English-language radio station Sochi Today, the channel’s press-service reports.
The new radio broadcasts on the frequency 101.5 FM in Sochi and on the frequency 105.8 FM in Krasnaya Polyana.
Radio content consists of high quality foreign music, as well as news releases, which are broadcast every half hour. Information block includes current world news, produced by RT journalists specially for this radio.
The launch of Sochi Today timed to the Sochi Winter Olympic Games 2014.
Potential audience of Sochi Today during the Olympic Games, according to preliminary estimates, will exceed three million people. Among listeners there will be athletes, officials, foreign journalists and sports fans.
“Thanks to Sochi Today, millions of foreign visitors of Olympics will be aware of the most important and interesting events, taking place in the Olympic Sochi and around the world,” Margarita Simonyan, RT editor in chief, said media. “We are sure that Sochi Today will continue the success of Russia Today channel.” she added.
Round-the-clock news channel Russia Today, which broadcasts from studios in Moscow and Washington in English, Arabic and Spanish, is available now for 644 million viewers worldwide. RT became the world’s first news channel to break the mark of 1 billion views on YouTube.
