Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, a five-time World Champions, finished their spectacular eleven-year career in their hometown Chemnitz.

With two sold-out shows in the Chemnitz Arena they wanted to thank home audience for the support during all those years.

This is the moving bittersweet last appearance, because their paths are going now apart: Aliona will continue to skate with another partner and Robin announced retirement. “Every beginning has an end,” commented her coach Ingo Steuer, who acted in unusual for himself role as an entertainer during the show.

They dominated and influenced innovative pair skating in the past decade more than any other pair. Aliona and Robin remained faithful to this joy of innovation: in black skin-tight costumes and without skates they showed a new exhibition number on the stage in the modern dance style.

Several high-profile figure skaters from other countries also performed in Chemnitz. 2006 Olympic champions Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin (RUS) charmed audience with their classic and passionate style, landing beautiful triple loop throws.

2014 Olympic bronze medalist Carolina Kostner (ITA) was celebrated frenetically. She skated a light version of „Bolero“, her free skate of this season and a wonderful exhibition number to J. Lennon „Imagine“, which had a direct connection with the theme of the show.

Among the other international and national stars were Sarah Meier, Kristoffer Berntsson, Peter Liebers, Stefan Lindemann, Lutricia Bock, Jason Graetz, Vladimir Besedin and Oleksiy Polishchuk.

Last gala they skated together, standing ovations from the crowed and many flowers. Dear Aliona and Robin, thank you so much for the unforgettable moments in the past and best wishes for the future!
